The book is about teaching of science in the schools of India. While writing this book, care has been taken to incorporate the latest development related to teaching of science, for example, it incorporates constructivism and teaching under this paradigm. Similarly, grading has been incorporated. The present book consists of thirteen chapter – science and its nature, science in school education, psychology of understanding science, educational technology, teaching skills and methods of teaching, planning teaching of science and national policy on educational followed by three appendices - Classification of objectives, programmed instructional materials and concept map.

Dr. A.B. Saxena has master’s degree in Physics and D. Phil.from Allahabad University. He has also diploma in Educational studies from Leeds University, U.K.
Dr. Saxena served National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in different capacities including professor of Science Education, Principal, Regional Institutes of Education at Ajmer and Bhopal, Dean Faculty of Education, MDS University Ajmer.
Dr. Saxena has published a large number of articles, books and research papers in the field of Physics, Science Education for Environmental Education, Understanding Learning Physics. Essentials of Environmental Education (Co- authored), and from Central Hindi Directorate (MHRD) for his book. He is keen bird watcher and bird photographer. His photographs have been published in news - papers and magazines. He has co-authored a book Baya, Bulbul aur unke Dost published by NCERT.
