A Taste of the Divine: Rasa and Transcendence in Dialogue grew out of Dr. Subramani's graduate research at the University of Calgary. Bringing together the Indian theory of Rasa, the philosophical con-cept of transcendence, and Mikhail Bakhtin's theory of dialogism, the book offers an original contribution to the field of comparative aesthetics.
The study is among the first to examine Rasa through the combined lenses of transcendence and dialogism, opening new avenues for dialogue between classical Indian aesthetic thought and modern literary theory. Drawing on her training in Sanskrit, philosophy, classical music, and the fine arts, Dr. Subramani demonstrates how ancient aesthetic insights continue to illuminate contemporary questions concerning art, consciousness, and human experience.
